Design

The home was designed to reflect the environment in which it sits; undulating granite coastline and ocean waves in the front and a tranquil forest setting in the back.

The curves of the facade are carried into the interior with several curved walls, bulkheads and furnishings. Unique features include a bar made of a large granite boulder with a glass top. The powder room faucet drops from the ceiling like a teardrop. Creative lighting and commissioned art add to the character of the home. The pool is built on the granite cliff, which forms its bottom.

Conservation & Style

Energy conservation includes super insulation, triple glazed windows, and very efficient air exchange. The home requires no mechanical cooling. Resource conservation includes rain water harvesting (no well) and extensive use of natural and local materials.

Selections were influenced by the travels of the owners with some unique components imported, complimenting local materials and craftsmanship.

Surroundings

A bold modern seaside home designed to reflect the contours of the granite cliffs on which it sits. Situated on a 13 acre private island in the picturesque fishing village of Lower Prospect; reminiscent of Peggy’s Cove of years past. It is not your typical vision of coastal living.

The curved facade is almost entirely glass, which opens onto expansive patios and decks. It allows for a seamless flow from indoor to outdoor living. Entertainment of friends and family plays an important role in the details of the home. It is very intentional that the home is comfortable and interesting.

The protected bay offers ideal kayaking, paddle boarding and boating. The outdoor entertaining space includes an outdoor kitchen with a wood fired pizza oven, an infinity pool, sauna, fire pit and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view.

Most of the island is densely wooded and home to a wide variety of animals and birds. Hiking on the trails around the island brings you to sandy coves and expansive ocean views with amazing sunrises and sunsets.
